Remembering Patty Burns, A Voice and Heart That Shaped Our Community

Patricia Douglass, known to so many as “Patty Burns,” passed away Monday, July 21, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 64. A familiar voice on the airwaves for decades, Patty built her career not only as a trusted radio personality but as someone who poured herself into the community she loved.

Over the years she became a vital part of the fabric of Laclede County. Her work connected her to generations of families through the Laclede County Fair, countless interviews with leaders from the Laclede Literacy Council, the City of Lebanon, the R-3 School District, the Lebanon Area Foundation, Lebanon-REDI, the Lebanon Parks Department, the Chamber of Commerce, and many other organizations. She didn’t just cover events—she championed them, using her platform to spotlight people, programs, and causes that make this community stronger.

Beyond her radio career, Patty was known for stepping up wherever there was a need. From helping nonprofits stay open to organizing efforts that supported first responders and coordinating large-scale recycling drives to protect local land and water, she was relentless in her mission to serve.

Friend and fellow community advocate Melinda Fries reflected on Patty’s impact. “Patty was a force of nature. She would jump in when no one else would. Her humor, her drive, her heart—they were unmatched. She’ll always hold a special place in my heart.”

Patty Burns leaves behind a legacy of service and kindness that will be felt in this community for years to come. Please keep her family in your prayers. Patty, thank you for everything.

Arrangements for Patricia Douglass will be announced by Holman Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon, MO.
