Meet Ranger—and How to Bring Him Home
This handsome goofball is Ranger—an 8–12-month-old German Shepherd mix who's bursting with energy and joy. He was picked up by animal control and, sadly, never reclaimed—but that hasn’t dimmed his spirit one bit.

What to Expect During the Adoption Process
- Visit and Find a Pet
Stop by during their open hours to meet Ranger in person and interact with him. - Submit an Application
You’ll need to fill out an application—required for all adoptions. - Interview & Meet
If your application looks like a good match, you’ll be invited to meet Ranger more closely. - Adoption Contract & Fees
- Base fees: Dogs are $175 and up, which includes vaccines (Parvo, Distemper, Rabies), wormer, and a $32 voucher toward spay/neuter if not already altered.
- Return policy: They offer a 14-day return policy—if things don’t work out, you can return Ranger (one time) and exchange him for another pet with no return fee.
- Contract requirements: The contract states that if at any point you cannot care for Ranger, you must return him to the shelter (no selling or rehoming); there’s a $30 intake fee for returns—unless it’s within 14 days, then it’s waived.
- Spay/neuter: Missouri law requires that the pet be altered within 30 days of adoption (depending on age), and Claws & Paws may reclaim the animal if this is not completed.
- Take Ranger Home
Once all paperwork and fees are handled—and assuming everything’s a go—you can bring Ranger home to begin your new life together!
