Sometimes all it takes is one goofy smile and a peanut butter cookie to completely steal the spotlight.
This week on Pet of the Week, we got to meet Odie, a sweet and energetic 10-month-old pup currently looking for his forever home through Claws & Paws. Joining Stacy Strickland from Ozark Fiber and Kelly from Claws & Paws, Odie quickly made himself comfortable on camera and honestly acted like he had been hosting the show the entire time.

Odie is believed to be a shepherd and pit mix and has a personality that is just as big as his adorable floppy ears. He loves attention, enjoys treats, and spent most of the episode happily bouncing around and soaking up all the love he could get. According to Kelly, Odie is potty trained, kennel trained, good with other dogs, and doesn’t seem bothered by cats at all.
Now… chickens are apparently another story entirely.
During the episode, Kelly jokingly explained that chickens are Odie’s “mortal enemy,” which led to plenty of laughs as Odie continued happily wagging his tail and looking for more cookies. Despite his strong opinions on poultry, Odie showed just how affectionate and gentle he really is throughout the visit.
Odie came to Claws & Paws earlier this spring after his previous owner, who was battling stage 4 cancer, made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him. While those transitions are never easy, the staff at Claws & Paws has made sure he’s been loved and cared for while waiting for the right family to come along.
Kelly mentioned that Odie does shed a bit, likely thanks to his shepherd side, but with a good brushing and some grooming, he’ll clean up just fine. More importantly, she described him as an incredibly sweet boy who just wants companionship and a place to belong.
Anyone interested in meeting Odie can stop by Claws & Paws and spend time with him in their socialization room or take him for a walk outside. His adoption fee is $175 and includes vaccinations, neutering, and a microchip.
If you’ve been looking for a loyal companion with a goofy personality and a whole lot of love to give, Odie might just be your guy.
And as always, sharing helps more than you know.
