The Hughes Senior Center, located at 460 West Fifth Street in Lebanon, is wrapping up a busy February and heading into March with full schedules, daily meals, and plenty of activities for the community.

The center recently concluded its Olympic Games with a closing ceremony, medals, and lots of laughs. Up next is a St. Patrick’s Day celebration featuring a green costume contest, with the best festive outfit winning a Dairy Queen gift card. The center is also hosting a Pie in the Face fundraiser through March 13, with proceeds supporting activities and potential trips. The person who raises the most money will receive a pie in the face.
Meals are served Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for those 60 and older and $7 for those under 60. Every meal includes soup, salad, ice cream, and fruit.
Here is what’s happening the first week of March:
Monday, March 2
Lunch: Barbecue chicken leg, bread, coleslaw, baked beans, and fruit.
Activities: Quilting at 9:00 a.m. and Coffee and Donut Roundtable at 9:00 a.m., where members can share ideas about what they would like to see at the center.
Tuesday
Lunch: Goulash with Italian sausage, garlic bread, green beans, garden salad, and fruit.
Activities: Marjon at 9:00 a.m. and Bingo at 12:00 p.m.
Wednesday
Lunch: Country fried beef steak with gravy, dinner roll, mashed potatoes, country blend vegetables, and fruit.
Activities: Bible study at 10:15 a.m. and a new interactive Charades-style game at 12:00 p.m. using cell phones for word guessing.
Thursday
Lunch: Ham and beans, cornbread, spinach, fried potatoes with sliced onions, and fruit.
Activities: Marjon at 9:00 a.m., Gospel Sing at 9:45 a.m., and Bingo at 12:00 p.m.
Friday
Lunch: Chicken livers, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered corn, salad, and fruit.
Activities: Samba at 9:00 a.m., Music Jam at 11:45 a.m., and Friday Night Dance at 7:00 p.m. featuring Johnny Mace’s band. The dance is $5 to attend. Musicians and singers of all ages are welcome to join the Music Jam.
