Join the Fun This Week at Hughes Senior Center

Bob and Debbie are back with another busy week at the Hughes Senior Center. From Valentine’s celebrations and Olympic games to live music, birthday lunch, and great meals all week long, there is always something happening at the center.

The center is sponsored by Garner Smith Insurance and Phoenix Home Care and Hospice. This week, Phoenix Home Care and Hospice is also sponsoring the meals.

The center will be closed Monday for Presidents Day but will reopen Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.

Here is what is happening this week:

Monday

Tuesday
Mahjong begins at 9:00 a.m., bingo is at noon, and the third Olympic game, ring toss, starts at 1:00 p.m.

For lunch, guests will enjoy baked ham served with au gratin potatoes, peas, a dinner roll, and fruit. The salad bar, soup, and ice cream are available as they are every day.

Wednesday – Birthday Celebration Day
Bible study begins at 10:15 a.m., followed by live music from Monty at 11:00 a.m., along with a special celebration for all February birthdays.

The birthday lunch features oven-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and a roll, followed by birthday cake, fruit, and ice cream. The daily salad bar and soup are also available.

Thursday
Mahjong starts at 9:00 a.m., gospel sing is at 9:45 a.m., and bingo begins at noon.

Lunch will include baked pork chops paired with scalloped potatoes, broccoli, and fruit, along with the daily salad bar, soup, and ice cream.

Friday
S.A.M.B.A. begins at 9:00 a.m., the music jam starts at 11:45 a.m., and the Friday night dance with Pure Country kicks off at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the dance is $5 for adults and $3 for ages 12 and under.

Lunch will be pizza casserole served with buttered corn, tossed salad, garlic bread, and fruit, and guests can enjoy ice cream sundaes with toppings along with the regular salad bar and soup.

Lunch is a $5 suggested donation for those 60 and older and $7 for anyone under 60. The Hughes Senior Center also welcomes volunteers and continues its meal sponsorship program for businesses or individuals who would like to help support meals for seniors.
