A Valentine’s jelly bean guessing contest begins Monday, with a $15 Dairy Queen gift card for the closest guess. Nominations are also open for the upcoming King and Queen celebration. Nomination forms are available at the front desk.
Monday
Activities begin with Quilting Club at 9:00 a.m. At noon, enjoy a movie and popcorn featuring The Great Outdoors starring John Candy.
Lunch includes smothered chicken with rice, California blend vegetables, a garden salad, fruit, and ice cream.
Tuesday
Mahjong starts at 9:00 a.m., followed by Bingo at noon. Bingo crowds continue to grow, and everyone is encouraged to join.
Lunch features smothered pork chops, scalloped potatoes, broccoli with cheese, a garden salad, fruit, and ice cream.
Wednesday
Exercise class begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by Bible study at 10:30 a.m. Trivia takes place at noon with prizes available.
Lunch is a baked potato bar with chili, vegetable soup, broccoli, cauliflower, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, and fruit.
Thursday
Mahjong starts at 9:00 a.m., gospel programming begins at 9:45 a.m., and Bingo returns at noon.
Lunch includes baked chicken, rice pilaf, green beans, bread, fruit, and ice cream.
Friday
Samba, a card game, begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by Music Jam at 11:45 a.m. Bring an instrument and join in. Friday night wraps up with the weekly dance at 7:00 p.m. featuring Clint Massey and Dixie Hicks. Admission is $5, with a discounted price for children 12 and under.
Lunch features Polish sausage with sauerkraut, buttered potatoes, country blend vegetables, fruit, and ice cream. Friday is also sundae day with toppings available.
Looking Ahead
The Hughes Senior Center Olympics begin in February with weekly games and friendly competition. Volunteers are always welcome to help in the kitchen, dining hall, front desk, office, or with Meals on Wheels deliveries.
