The Lebanon boys swim team made history this weekend, winning its first team plaque in school history after a nail-biting finish at the championship meet.
Senior Eli Havens led the way with two individual victories, setting pool records in both the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle while earning state consideration times. Junior Jackson Fisher added two first-place finishes of his own in the 200 and 100 freestyles, also qualifying for state consideration.
The meet opened with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay by Havens, Fisher, senior Lucas Keen, and junior Hunter Fore. Fisher and sophomore Guthrie Jackson immediately followed with strong swims in the 200 free, with Fisher winning and Jackson placing fourth.
Freshman AJ Fisher added points with a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly, while Keen took second in the 100 backstroke. In the 200 freestyle relay, Braden Johnson, AJ Fisher, Wesley Frey, and Jackson combined for third place to keep Lebanon ahead in the standings.
With just three events left, Lebanon held a 25-point lead. The meet came down to the 400 freestyle relay, where Fore, Keen, Havens, and Fisher held off West Plains for second place, clinching the overall team victory.
“This was going to be close. One DQ and it was over,” said Coach Krev. “The swimmers just did their job, and it paid off.”
