Rotary August 21, 2025- Lebanon R3 School Sports

Posted on 08/21/2025

At this week’s Rotary Club meeting at the Wallace Building, Lebanon Now was on site to share the stories of service and community that make Rotary such an important part of Lebanon.

The meeting began with the recognition of Rotarian of the Week, Bill Hash. Bill has been a member since 1970, dedicating more than five decades to service. He shared that some of his proudest moments have been making and serving food out of the Rotary food trailer—handing out hot dogs, burgers, popcorn, and pork rinds to the community. He also spoke about the impact of the Rotary scholarship program, which has opened doors for countless students. Bill reminded everyone that joy comes from giving back and connecting with others, saying he loves this community and treasures every chance to serve.

Dr. Holly Schrage then introduced the week’s guest speaker, Brian Decker, the Lebanon R-3 Schools Athletic Director. Brian highlighted the many athletic programs available to students and emphasized how sports teach lessons that go far beyond the field or court—teamwork, discipline, leadership, and resilience. Several students joined to share their experiences and goals for the year: Levi Collins with Boys Golf, Brayden Christian with Football, Rhett Rhoades with Football, Lilly Bradbury with Girls Basketball, and Harper Stanes with Volleyball. Their words showed the promise of a new generation stepping up to lead.

The meeting also spotlighted the Lebanon Student Council, which meets four times each year. This group gives students the opportunity to voice their ideas, take part in real conversations about school issues, and practice leadership skills that will serve them for life. It’s proof that when young people are given responsibility, they rise to the challenge.

As a reminder, the Rotary Satellite Club meets tonight at Boat Town Brewing at 5:30 p.m. It’s a chance to see firsthand what Rotary is all about—friendship, service, and making a difference. Bring a friend and be inspired.
