The Lebanon Girls Varsity Swim Team turned in a strong performance Saturday at the Ozark Invitational, finishing seventh overall in a competitive field of 21 schools.
Senior Missy Mizell led the way for the Yellowjackets, capturing first-place finishes in both the 100 backstroke and the 100 butterfly. Her winning times in each event exceeded state consideration standards, highlighting another standout meet for the team’s top scorer.
Evelyn Martin also delivered an impressive showing, earning state consideration times in two events. Martin placed second in the 200 individual medley and followed with a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, contributing valuable points to Lebanon’s overall total.
Depth across the lineup helped the Yellowjackets secure their top-seven finish. Addyson McKnight placed eighth in the 100 freestyle and tenth in the 50 freestyle, while Milly Hough recorded two 15th-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and the 500 freestyle.
Lebanon’s relay teams were a highlight of the meet, as Mizell, Martin, McKnight, and Hough combined for second-place finishes in both the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay. Those performances improved the team’s state rankings to seventh in the 200 freestyle relay and ninth in the 400 freestyle relay.
“The team had an excellent meet,” said head coach David Krev. “Eleven of our 13 swimmers posted season-best times, and the remaining two were just off their best. All of their tireless hard work is beginning to show results.”
The Lebanon Girls Varsity Swim Team will return to action Thursday at a meet in Carthage.
